Meeting in the Jewish Museum of Bologna
Dame Helen Hyde DBE and Michael Mail, founder of Jewish Heritage Foundation based in London, respectively Chair and President of the Board of Directors of the Foundation, were hosted at the Jewish Museum of Bologna by the director Vicenza Maugeri and the Director David Palterer. The visit, which contributed to strengthening of the relations between partners in the European Project JHN Moreshet. It also gave the opportunity to learn about the institutional and management model, the cultural mission and, in particular, the didactic activity carried out by the MEB, thus becoming the subject of study for the Welsh Heritage Center. The center that the Jewish Heritage Foundation intends to establish will have its headquarters in a synagogue, which was disused since 1983, and purchased in 2019.
The current temporary exhibition in Bologna Museum set up on the occasion of Pesach on the Hagadà of Sarajevo was much appreciated by the two guests for their own amplitude studied by the curators of the MEB with a rich section of ancient, artistic and “curious” Hagadot. The third photographic section of the exhibition concerns the city of Sarajevo and the outcome of the war that upset it, with a strong and intentional connection with current events. The visit included a walk along the city’s Jewish route, ending at the community headquarters. The guests were received by the President, Daniele De Paz and, and by Rabbi Alberto Sermoneta and accompanied to the visit to the two synagogues.
